Computer as a Part of Your Wardrobe

They are called the Beauty and the Geek Jeans Sport Built-In Keyboard. Not only does it have the keyboard across your lap, but there are built in speakers, a joystick and a bag in the back pocket for your mouse. They were designed by Erik De Nijs and I heard about it from kissatlanta. I also got the pictures from the Computer Shopper blog.

Earth Day and Baseball

So many Earth Day articles and blogposts today and this baseball article caught my attention. It is just really creative, kind of funny and great at the same time.

Neal Cruz's editorial in the Philippine Inquirer was also a good reminder of why we even have Earth Day.
If we all just do even one thing like:
* Turn off our lights when we leave home
* Use cold water to wash clothes and only wash when have full load.
* Carpool, take public transportation, bike!

Anything will help if everyone does one thing.

I found this picture on Flickr - thanks Angela7dreams. It's of the South China sea.

Happy Earth Day everyone!

My Atlanta.net Internship

I have been working with Sherry Heyl for about a month now on the Atlanta.net web site. We are bringing people to the site's new online community called ATL Insider where people can post about what they like to do in Atlanta, where the best places are to stay, what the best attractions are, etc. This way any tourists can also use this site to get insight on Atlanta from the Atlantans themselves. It is a great idea and I have had SO much fun. My job has been the online recruiting part where I get to find the Atlantans online in places like social networks, on blogs, in virtual worlds, or even on twitter. We say at every meeting "this is the best internship ever isn't it?!" Because it's a lot of fun! Sherry's blog explains the project a little more. AND the blog has a picture of my avatar in Second Life in it. :)

We also had our big event (Net Party) last Thursday at the Tongue and Groove in Buckhead. I got to interview people there about all their favorite Atlanta hotspots. Now, I have been posting all their answers online either at the Atlanta.net site in the ATL Insider or my personal community in Kaneva.

This is a video of interviews at the Atlanta.net party:

iPhone + eBooks

I am a big reader - I love to read and wish I could read more often then I already do. I think it would be really awesome to be able to have a book I am reading on my iPhone all the time. I am hoping Apple gets this all worked out so that it's easy to do and lots of books are available.

The First Starbucks Ever

How cool! I want to go to this Starbucks one day. This is a really need web site with a "tour" that you can personally move around your mouse to see the whole store and click on the stars to find out more about it. It really is interesting if you have any interest in Starbucks. This is part of their campaign right now about going back to the basics from their beginning. And they just launched their new coffee called Pike Place Roast which is named after where their first Starbucks was located. I think this is a great road for Starbucks to take right now - trying to show their audience that they are taking steps to make sure they are still producing great coffee like they were in the beginning even though they are now a HUGE company.

I have tried this new coffee and personally love it. Anyone else tried it and have any comments about it? I know there are many different opinions about Starbucks out there.

Guitar Playing You've Never Seen Before

Again I found a great musical piece on Merri's blog. People are so creative. I love it. This video is good not only because you usually don't see two people playing one song but also they look like they're having a lot of fun.

Thanks Merri!

Anyone else have a creative talent or seen something like this before?

Out of the Box

I love creative, out-of-the-ordinary ideas - I found a great example on the kissatlanta blog. IKEA putting their furniture, curtains and other examples on a monorail is definitely an out-of-the-box idea. Easily creating attention and conversation is the exact way you want it to be. Anyone else have good creative examples?"

Springtime Mix

A friend recommended this mix on twitter and I have no idea how you can just make a mix like this and pass it around as a link but I'm gonna figure it out. For now, here's the mix - it's pretty darn good. And I will come back later to explain how this is possible.

Creative and Talented Artist

Not only is she singing a cappella but she also uses no insruments. I found this on Merri Williams' blog. It's a really great video:

Facebook Banning People for Spamming

I stumbled upon this article today about a guy who sent out a mass message to all these financial groups on Facebook because he works in finance too and thought it was a great networking opportunity. I thought the article was pretty interesting because immediately after he sent this mass message, he was banned from Facebook forever. I didn't realize that Facebook did this so easily.

I think this response from Facebook might have been a little harsh - maybe he should have gotten a warning or something like that since this was only his first time sending a large message that seemed like spam. He said that he made the message very personal and relevant. However, it sounded to me like he knew he was taking a risk by sending the message to such a large audience so I think he should've known that he should maybe spend a little more time to contact these people in a different way. People do not respond to mass emails or anything like that very well... So it would have been a lot more effective for him in the long run anyway to spend time to write messages maybe to one group at a time. If he wasn't banned from Facebook.. I'm not sure he would have received much of a response in the first place.

ING Marathon and Half Marathon

First of all, I love Atlanta. And I also like running so this weekend was lots of fun running the ING half marathon. The race was so neat because the views while I was running made the run go pretty fast. Starting at Centennial Park and moving through the neighborhoods around the city (passing Martin Luther King Jr.'s birth home) as well as going across this bridge that gave me the prettiest wide view of the city that there is (this is when I stopped to take a stretching break). You can see a video of the whole route or just pictures and upcoming dates of races on their web site. Even though I am still a little sore today... the race was worth it and so much fun. You should check out this web site to see a video/ tour of the whole route. It's pretty neat.
